Our vision is to develop, organize, and provide access to specialized services that meet the needs of the Medical Academic Community. Our mission is to offer a wide range of resources that enable the Medical Academic Community to stay updated with the latest knowledge in Medicine and related fields. Our goal is to promote the use of PMCK’s facilities to support and fulfill academic needs, fostering continuous learning and development in the medical profession.
Founded in 1992, the Postgraduate Medical Center (PGMC) of the National Hospital, Kandy, serves as a hub for continuous medical education, postgraduate studies, and community health initiatives. Situated in Sri Lanka’s scenic central hills, the National Hospital, Kandy, is the second-largest hospital under the Ministry of Health, housing over 150 specialized consultant units and state-of-the-art facilities.
In 2019, PGMC was restructured as a charitable organization under the Companies Act of Sri Lanka, enhancing its operations as a nonprofit entity. Governed by its Articles of Association, the center reinvests all proceeds into advancing its educational and healthcare mission. Audits by a reputable firm ensure transparency and accountability.
Led by the hospital’s director, a clinical director, a treasurer, and a board of 20 specialist medical officers, the center remains committed to fostering a research-driven environment and supporting healthcare professionals across the hospital.
